Wellington City Buses

Ok as a former City Bus Driver, I fulfilled a child hood dream which was to drive buses. I was there for nearly 2 years I drove 30ft long vehicles along Wellington City.

Wednesday, 2 April 2003.

So what's new?
Well today is apparently the official opening of the new Lambton Interchange - I will take some pictures of it in all its completion at a later date. Also Trolley Bus 301 - the new re-designed trolley - of which is apparently the basis of things to come. Now it's not exactly the prettiest bus in the world but it does have a certain style to it.

What is amusing is that a couple of weeks ago they test drove thing and drove it along the city with the dignitaries on it but now its going under a few major modifications - the most important ones being an introduction of proper bumpers on the bus which it was lacking originally. The Trolley Bus has been designed by Designline in Ashburton - South Island of New Zealand, and it's around 1 year over due to say the least.

Anyways, below I have included pictures of bus 301. Except for the first Image of Trolley 301 - all images were taken by me.

Along with Trolley 301 there is also another prototype being desgined. You see Trolley Bus 301 really isnt a brand new bus per se, its actually a hybrid bus because it has the chassis and electrics of an old Trolley bus but it has a new body similar to that of a 1300 series bus. The other prototype is Trolley 264 which has new electrics and new pole base but built within an existing chasis and body. It is hoped that once the 2 trials prove successful they will be integrated into the 1 bus.
